I went to my favorite drinkin’ hole
Lookin to unwind
Suck up some suds with my buds
Just to pass the time

Hanging with my good ol’ boys
Was good up to a point
someone started talkin’ politics
and fired up the joint

My side is the right side
And don’t you disagree
Cause I’ll argue with you every time
Until you agree with me

the next topic was religion
and then they started talkin’ sports
That whole crowd started getting’ loud
you’d think it was the peoples court

Soon I was wound up pretty tight
No matter where I turned
Someone was trying to pick a fight
And I was getting burned

My side is the right side
And don’t you disagree
Cause I’ll argue with you every time
Until you agree with me

I didn’t want to contribute
To enter into the fray
But when they started in about my girlfriend
I knew someone would have to pay

So there I was clenching my fists
And yelling at the top of my lungs
All at once it occurred to me
“I hope no one’s got a gun”

Everyone else is wrong
